Ok let’s talk about Scott Hoying of Pentatonix for a sec.
Scott is an amazing vocalist who can basically sing anything. Broadway, pop, Beyonce
lets be real here not a lot of people can pull off beyonce and slay AND be acknowledged by the queen herself, you name it. But this cover with Rozzi Crane and Kevin is just absolutely amazing.Let’s talk about the arrangement first. One, it’s all cello and Kevin, so that by itself is amazing. Two, I have no idea how he does it, but somehow, Kevin’s cello and beatboxing just fills the space so that the arrangement doesn’t feel empty or awkward or anything. The ENTIRE COVER ONLY USES ONE INSTRUMENT yet the cover doesn’t feel like it lacks anything.
Ok now let’s move on to Rozzi and Scott. Their voices mesh SO WELL like Rozzi’s voice has this certain edge and power to it, and Scott has a smoother voice, but it’s still just as powerful. These two sound amazing together with the harmonies and the runs and everything. I hope that just once, Rozzi and Pentatonix do a collaboration with each other because that would be beyond amazing.
